QUAD Skimmer Lid |
Safety
This product has been designed to comply with Australian Standard - AS 1926.3 2010 Swimming pool safety – Water recirculation systems. The Australian Standard states that skimmer lids must be child-proof. Skimmer box lids when installed in its designed position, must be either:
(a) Locked or
(b) Unable to be lifted off vertically with a force less than 100 Newtons i.e. heavier than 10.2kg.
The QUAD designed lids are not removable by children or adults. Access to the skimmer box requires the KEY, so hence it is locked.
Construction
The skimmer lid has a slot extending from the paving material in the top of the lid to the underside of the stainless steel tray. This allows the skimmer lid to be lifted from the skimmer box and also provides the ventilation required by AS 1926.3-2010.
We offer the following paving material infills as standard:
Granite – G603, G654, G681, G682, G684
Travertine Light – Honed & Filled, Tumbled and Unfilled
Travertine Grey – Tumbled and Unfilled
Indian Sandstone – Tinted Mint, Honed Mint.
We can manufacture any personally selected paving material to ensure it matches with the pool coping and surround paving.

Select a seamless and flush pool surround:
The QUAD Skimmer Lid comprises a 2mm thick 316 marine grade stainless steel tray with the selected paving matched, fitted as a stone infill. A keyway slot is cut into the stone infill prior to assembly into the slotted tray. The tray supports the stone and protects it from chipping, cracking and possibly breaking. Replacement stones or tiles to match may not be available in the future.
The dimensions of the square tray are 336 x 336 mm. The depth of the tray can be chosen depending on the thickness of the paving material to be inserted. Three depths are available as standard: 25mm (to suit paving material 20mm or less), 35mm (to suit paving material 30mm or less) and 45mm (to suit paving material 40mm or less). Custom depths are also available.
Included in the kit is a heavy duty stainless steel key that allows controlled removal of the lid. This key should be kept out of reach of children so they cannot access the skimmer box. This keyed access meets the Australian Standard AS 1926.3-2010 required for skimmer box lid certification. The slot or keyway cut into the paving material also provides adequate ventilation yet is not a trip hazard. |
The QUAD skimmer lid comprises the following elements: |
|
|
• An insert of paving material such as stone, granite, porcelain, wood, terracotta, concrete or clay pavers. The insert is cut to minimum tolerances to ensure a close, neat fit. To ensure a perfectly symmetrical shaped, ventilated keyway, a 'water jet' cutting process is used.
|
|
|
• A tray made of 2mm 316 marine grade stainless steel with tight flush welded corners to allow the tile to fit with minimal clearances. It is finished with a highly polished top trim to resist discolouration. The keyway is laser cut to an exact dimension.

|
• A key (made from 316 marine grade stainless steel) to be utilised as a lifting tool to remove the skimmer lid from the pool skimmer box

Electrical |
Installation |
Some pool builders have asked whether the Quad Skimmer Lid needs to be earthed (bonded) to ensure the Equipotential Bonding Legislation is met.
The frame supporting the tile (i.e. the 2mm stainless steel tray around the tile) should not need to be bonded as it is dropped into the concrete pool structure and is loose in that recess. It is not buried in the ground or fastened to any surface and as such would not have a difference of potential from the concrete pool structure.
“The metal skimmer box lid in the metal frame would be at the same potential as the pool reinforcing.”
The pool reinforcing within the bond beam is bonded to earth so no addition bonding is required.
The lid is not within the pool nor fixed or attached to any other substrate. The Electric safety office is presently considering this unusual application as per the standards

New install or refurbish
• Allow for a Square recess in the finished paving over the centre of the skimmer box. The square recess size in paving needs to be between 338mm to 340mm and the depth to greater than the tray selected.
• The tray may need to be raised in the recess to allow the top surface of the lid to sit level with the pool coping or surrounds. This can be achieved by placing a mortar or grout packer in each corner and bedding the lid in to the required high.
Replacement of existing
• Cut a square in existing paving evenly around the skimmer box, remove to leave a flat surface at the required depth of the selected lid.
• Allow the Square recess in paving to be between 338mm to 340mm and at less 25 mm deep.
• The lid will need to sit level in the recess to line up with the pool coping or surrounds. This can be achieved by using a cement or grout in each corner and bedding the lid in to the required high
